CDOS is emerging as a reference point for the stone industry in India and is regularly being approached by National and International organisations as a representative of the Indian stone industry for information and co-operation. Ministry of Mines, Government of India has ‘in-principally’ agreed to accord CDOS the status of a National Centre.

India Stonemart

Three editions of the International Stone Industry Exhibition – India Stonemart – have been organised by CDOS in the years 2000, 2003 and 2005 at Export Promotion Industrial Park Jaipur CDOS. It is a matter of pride for CDOS that over a period of 6 years ‘Stonemart’ is now an internationally renowned brand in the stone sector..

INDIA STONEMART 2007 - the fourth edition –is scheduled to be held during February 1-4, 2007.

Global Stone Technology Forum

Two-day conference for architects, civil engineers, contractors, builders, stone sector entrepreneurs, quarry owners, processors, technology suppliers etc. was organised during December 15-16, 2005 at Jaipur. The conference will aim to provide a forum to deliberate and thereby find solutions to usage, processing and mining issues related to the stone sector. It shall be structured into two sub-conferences

• Stone Users Conclave
• Stone Masters Conclave

The concurrent activities being taken up at the Forum include Technology related Buyer Seller Meet, Technology Exposition/Catalogue Show and a Stone Artifacts Haat

D.Publications

CDOS conducted a documentation of Major Stone Varieties of India and the information has been compiled in a Compendium of two volumes. For the first time in India, all the major stone varieties were collected by CDOS and got tested for Physical Characteristics as per ASTM standards.

Training Programmes and Seminars

Conducted training programmes at various places in Rajasthan and Gujarat in stone sector. Organised seminars and vendor development programmes at several places. .

International Conferences

CDOS has organised international conferences regularly; which include an Architects Conference in 2003 and International Conferences on Processing and Marketing Issues related to stone industry in 2000 and 2003. The next International Conference – Global Stone Technology Forum - is scheduled to be organised during December 15 to December 16, 2005 at Jaipur.


Testing of Stones

A laboratory of CDOS is coming up at Jaipur which would test and certify stones for properties as per European and American Test Methods.

Major Export worthy stones are presently being got tested for members from a reputed laboratory as per International standards.

Environment management plan (EMP) for stone waste

CDOS proposals for management of slurry generated during processing of marble; accepted principally by the State Government of Rajasthan.

Rajasthan Stone Architectural Awards were instituted in the field of Exterior Facings, Interior Designs and Landscaping

Free space was provided to grass-root artisans at India Stonemart 2003 and 2005.


Image Promotion Of Indian Stones

An attempt is being made to promote the brand equity of Indian stones through Print media with CDOS Articles on Indian stones published in major international trade journals, Publications, E-mails TV and through multimedia presentations at international events

International Exposure to CDOS Members

CDOS has regularly organised delegations and country pavillions of Indian companies in International events in Italy and Germany – Indian companies provided with exhibit space free of cost/at concessional rates, with support from UNIDO.


Policy Initiatives

some of the efforts at the national level include Amendment to the Credit Linked Capital Subsidy Scheme for SSIs, Anti Dumping efforts to protect Rajasthan stone industry, Excise Duty reduction etc.

CDOS has a database of over 15,000 companies in India and over 10,000 companies abroad CDOS maintains, compiles and analyses trade and production data related to Indian Stones
