3rd ALL INDIA STONE ARCHITECTURAL AWARDS - 2011
It is an annual competition held in Jaipur and is awarded to outstanding projects;
the concepts and technical procedures of which correspond to an idea of “Creativity
and Excellence” in the use of natural stones from India.

AWARDS PROGRAM GOALS
- To honour excellence and innovations in usage of Indian dimensional stones in buildings
& landscapes
- To provide an opportunity to architects to demonstrate their exemplary works to
fellow professionals and the public at large
- To celebrate recent achievements of architects and firms in the field of stones
- To encourage public interest in stone architecture
- To encourage stone industry to make a meaningful contribution in creating innovations
in stone products and applications
- To encourage usage of stones as green building material
AWARD CATEGORIES
Winners shall be selected in four categories, which are listed as under:
- Exterior Facings
- Interior Designs
- Landscaping
- Green Architecture
IMPORTANT
Entries shall be considered for AISAA only with respect to creativity and excellence
in usage of Indian natural stones in buildings and landscapes or components thereby.
The Award to include:
- A shield
- A citation
- The Award shall include a shield, a citation and a cash award of Rs.100,000/- (Rupees
One Lac only) for each category, with the four awards totaling to rupees four lac.
Should the award be given to a joint work of two or more persons, the sum will be
divided equally between the winners.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
Entries eligible for consideration for AISAA 11 must necessarily adhere to the following
requirements :
- Within the territory of India
- Residential, commercial or public
- Renovation, restoration, addition or new
- A completed project component can be submitted for Award consideration, even if
the entire project has not been completed.
- The project component (or work) submitted for consideration for AISAA shall be completed
at the time of submission, subject to the condition that the referred component
(or work) has not been completed ten years prior to the submission of the project.
- Usage of stones originating from India would primarily be considered for evaluation.
Imported stones and their usage shall be ignored for purpose of consideration under
AISAA.
- Must necessarily be the work of Architect registered with the Council of Architecture
and a copy of valid registration certificate should be enclosed with the entry form.
- Entries on behalf of a deceased architect can be submitted by his firm and/or his
legal heirs and successors.
JURYAND JUDGEMENT CRITERIA
- Each eligible project submission will be judged by a Jury comprising of eminent
personalities of the field.
- The criteria shall aim to include any or all of the following with respect to usage
of natural stones, viz. marble, sandstone, granite, slate, quartzite and other stones
extracted from nature:
- Creativity and excellence in usage
- Contribution of the project in architectural excellence in usage of stones
- Theory and Design Principles
- Usage of newly discovered stone varieties
- New Stone Products
- Project constraints and solutions achieved
- Context and Site
- Value addition
- Environmental Sustainability and appropriate usage of stones in promoting a lower
environmental and energy footprint of the building.
Explanatory Notes:
- While creative and totally new usage of stones shall be encouraged, application
of Indian stone traditions in modern context shall also be encouraged. Projects
shall hence be judged both in terms of new concepts as well as in propagation of
traditional applications of stones.
- The scale of the creativity may range from raw stones to usage of stones in composite
materials, a large development, or from a small design feature to a stone product
with the potential for widespread use
- If jury finds that none of the entries received for a specific category can be awarded
they may withhold the Award.
- Jury majority opinion, can remove any entry from evaluation, for any reason whatsoever.
- Jury can change the category of entry form that indicated by participant, if they
feel so by majority
PRIZE DISTRIBUTION
- The prize distribution ceremony shall be held during Global Stone Technology Forum
(GSTF) 2011 an International Stone Conference scheduled to be organized by CDOS
during December 15-16, 2011 at Jaipur, India.
- The winners will be notified of the Jury's decision and invited personally to collect
their awards at the official prize-giving ceremony. In case of posthumous awardees,
their legal heirs/successors would be invited.
- All participants must be prepared to come to Jaipur personally on their own expenses
should their projects be awarded prizes.
- Award winners and those receiving special/honourable mentions will be asked to prepare
two 30” x 30” exhibit panels to be displayed suitably at the prize ceremony venue.
ENTRY PROCESS
- There is no entry fee. One may send more than one entry too. Separate entry form
shall be submitted for each project.
- One entry shall be eligible for one award only, entry selected as winner in any
category shall not be considered for future AISAA.
- All entries should be filled completely and accompanied by details as requested,
and the declaration form should be duly signed failing which the applications are
likely to be rejected.

- Extra sheets of papers may be annexed to the entry form wherever needed.
- Entries Found non-confirming local /state/national rules & bye-laws shall not be
considered for evaluation.
- CDOS reserves the right to reject applications, without assigning any reason whatsoever.
Filled up Application Forms, with details, photos and CDs as requested may be sent
via registered post or reputed courier to the CDOS address as mentioned below, so
as to reach not later than November 01, 2011.
